Assistant Project Manager – Environmental Projects

Job summary

WSP in the United Kingdom is seeking Assistant Project Managers to join our Environmental Project Management PMO. You will support the delivery of multi-disciplinary environmental projects, working with Project Managers and Technical Leads to keep programmes on track and within budget.

This role offers hands-on experience across the full lifecycle, learning structured processes and best practice while developing skills to progress toward an Environmental Project Manager role.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting project or workstream delivery on Infrastructure or Environmental projects.
• Ability to work with plans, schedules, risk logs, budgets and reports.
• High attention to detail with data accuracy; identify issues early.
• Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks or projects.
• Confident in using Microsoft Excel to manage, analyse and track information.
• Experience collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders.
• Clear, professional communication and follow-up on actions.
• Proactive problem solving to support issue resolution.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of project proposals, defining scope, programme, resources and budget.
• Assist with project documentation: plans, cost forecasts, schedules, risk registers, stakeholder logs.
• Coordinate project progress and track delivery against milestones.
• Ensure health and safety requirements for site visits are in place and approved.
• Organise meetings and capture outcomes with action follow-ups.
• Manage project information in SharePoint and ProjectWise.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers.
• Support administration of supplier contracts.
