Vision for Education Ltd is seeking an experienced Assistant Headteacher to join a large Ofsted rated Outstanding specialist SEND school in Kingsbury, North West London. The role combines strategic leadership with classroom teaching and oversees Sixth Form provision and KS4/KS5 progression.

You will work closely with the Headteacher to drive whole-school improvement, support safeguarding as DDSL, mentor staff, and coordinate partnerships with colleges and external agencies.

Assistant Headteacher
£76,154- £84,441 ((salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)

Start date: September 2026

Location: Kingsbury, North West London (NW9)

We are working with a large Ofsted rated "Outstanding"specialist SEND school in Kingsbury, North West London that supports children and young people with a range of complex learning needs and disabilities. The school is committed to providing an ambitious, inclusive and nurturing environment, helping learners develop academically, socially and personally while preparing them for adulthood and greater independence.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and experienced Assistant Headteacher to join the Senior Leadership Team.

Working closely with the Headteacher, you will play a key role in driving whole-school improvement, with specific responsibility for Sixth Form provision and strategic oversight of KS4 and KS5. The role will also include some classroom teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop Sixth Form provision, including vocational, accredited and life-skills pathways.
  • Provide strategic leadership across KS4 and KS5, ensuring strong progression and outcomes.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement, curriculum development and strategic planning.
  • Lead, support and develop staff through coaching, mentoring and CPD.
  • Oversee post-19 transition planning and work with colleges, local authorities and external agencies.
  • Promote high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, safeguarding and wellbeing.
  • Support safeguarding as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
  • Support the Headteacher and SLT with staff development, recruitment and deployment.
About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced school leader with a strong background in SEND, ideally working with learners with complex needs and disabilities.

You will have proven leadership experience, a strong understanding of curriculum and school improvement, and a genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for young people.

You will be an inspirational, collaborative and resilient leader who can motivate staff, drive improvement and contribute effectively to the wider strategic direction of the school.
