Job summary

Peak Education Recruitment Ltd in Redbridge is seeking an Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion & Achievement. This strategic leadership role guides provision from Nursery to Year 6, ensuring an ambitious curriculum and strong support for pupils, including those with SEND, EAL and from disadvantaged backgrounds.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will drive improvement, monitor interventions and develop leadership capacity.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and strong primary teaching experience.
  • Successful leadership experience within a primary school.
  • Deep understanding of inclusion, SEND, EAL and strategies that remove barriers to learning.

Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion & Achievement

ASAP Start | Redbridge | Temp Daily Rate : £270 - £330 (umbrella)| Perm Salary: £65,000–£73,000 DOE | Temp‑to‑Perm Full‑Time (12weeks)

A forward‑thinking, values‑driven primary school in Redbridge is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion & Achievement. This strategic leadership role focuses on ensuring that all pupils — including those with SEND, EAL, disadvantaged backgrounds and other vulnerable groups — receive ambitious, high‑quality provision that enables them to thrive.

The school is known for its inclusive ethos, strong pastoral culture and commitment to removing barriers to learning. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a central role in shaping whole‑school improvement, driving high standards and modelling excellent practice.

Key Purpose of the Role
  • Provide strategic leadership for inclusion and achievement from Nursery to Year 6.
  • Ensure all pupils have access to an ambitious curriculum, effective teaching and appropriate support.
  • Lead significant aspects of school improvement relating to SEND, EAL, vulnerable groups and achievement.
  • Line‑manage and support the SENDCo, ensuring provision is effective, evidence‑informed and outcome‑focused.
  • Contribute to whole‑school self‑evaluation, development planning and monitoring.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations, belonging and ambition for every pupil.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
  • Work collaboratively with the Headteacher and SLT to deliver the school’s vision and strategic direction.
  • Lead inclusion across the school, ensuring it remains central to improvement priorities.
  • Support and challenge colleagues to improve practice and outcomes.
  • Develop leadership capacity across the school.
  • Contribute to recruitment, induction and professional development.
  • Deputise for senior leaders when required.
SEND & Inclusion
  • Provide strategic leadership for SEND provision.
  • Ensure statutory responsibilities are met effectively.
  • Monitor and evaluate interventions, support and additional provision.
  • Promote adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Work closely with families, governors and external professionals.
  • Improve outcomes for pupils with SEND and other vulnerable groups.
EAL & Language Development
  • Lead effective provision for pupils learning English as an Additional Language.
  • Promote language‑rich classrooms and vocabulary development.
  • Ensure staff understand strategies for different stages of language acquisition.
  • Monitor progress and identify priorities for improvement.
Achievement & Vulnerable Groups
  • Analyse attainment and progress data to identify barriers and priorities.
  • Develop strategies to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and vulnerable groups.
  • Ensure interventions are targeted, appropriate and evaluated for impact.
Teaching & Learning
  • Model excellent teaching practice through class teaching, targeted groups, demonstration lessons or team teaching.
  • Support teachers in developing inclusive, adaptive approaches.
  • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and coaching.
  • Work closely with leaders for Quality of Education to ensure teaching meets the needs of all pupils.
Person Specification – What You Bring
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and strong primary teaching experience.
  • Successful leadership experience within a primary school.
  • Deep understanding of inclusion, SEND, EAL and strategies that remove barriers tol earning.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use evidence to drive improvement.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing colleagues.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and challenge staff.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and professional integrity.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential).
Salary & Contract
  • £270 - £330 Daily Rate (umbrella) 12 weeks
  • Perm Salary: £65,000–£73,000 DOE
