Job description

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our senior leadership team as Assistant Head - Pastoral. This is a pivotal role focused on safeguarding, wellbeing, and behavior across the school. You will lead our pastoral strategy, ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and able to thrive.

  • Strategic leadership of pastoral care and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Oversight of safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with statutory guidance.
  • Line management of Heads of Year and pastoral support staff.
  • Development of behavior and attendance strategies to promote positive engagement.
  • Collaboration with parents, external agencies, and staff to support student welfare.
  • Monitoring and reporting on pastoral data to inform school improvement.

This is a non-Teaching role.

  • Significant experience in pastoral leadership or student support within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence others.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex situations calmly and effectively.
