Job summary

Grimsby Golf Club Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Head Greenkeeper to help maintain and present its course to a high standard for members and visitors.

Working alongside the Head Greenkeeper, you will support day-to-day maintenance and course presentation to deliver excellent playing conditions. You will manage staff, operate machinery, apply sprays, and contribute to turf management and course improvement projects, while upholding safety and club procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous golf course greenkeeping experience.
• Strong understanding of turf and course maintenance.
• Knapsack sprayer experience and spraying qualifications (PA1/PA6).
• Confident operating a range of greenkeeping machinery.
• Reliable, organised and team-oriented.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn and develop.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing the greenkeeping team.
• Maintain greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and surrounding areas.
• Operate and maintain greenkeeping machinery.
• Carry out mowing, cutting, aeration and general maintenance.
• Apply sprays and chemicals as required.
• Assist with turf management and course improvement projects.
• Keep machinery, equipment and work areas to a high standard.
• Support the Head Greenkeeper in organising daily tasks.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with club procedures.

The Role

About You

• Previous golf course greenkeeping experience
• A strong understanding of turf and course maintenance
• Relevant spraying qualifications and knapsack sprayer experience, including PA1 and PA6
• Confident operating a range of greenkeeping machinery
• Reliable, organised and proud of your work
• Able to work as part of a team and on your own
• Good communication and leadership skills
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn and develop
• Desirable: chainsaw qualification and experience
