Job summary

Grimsby Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic Greenkeeper to join as Assistant Head Greenkeeper. You will work alongside the Head Greenkeeper to maintain and present the course to a high standard, ensuring outstanding playing conditions for members and visitors.

The ideal candidate has proven greenkeeping experience, turf knowledge, and spraying qualifications (PA1/PA6). You will operate machinery, support daily tasks and contribute to course improvements within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in golf course greenkeeping and turf maintenance.
• Must hold PA1 and PA6 spraying qualifications.
• Able to operate a range of greenkeeping machinery and keep tools in good order.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing the greenkeeping team and daily tasks.
• Maintain greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and surrounding areas.
• Operate and maintain a range of greenkeeping machinery.
• Carry out mowing, cutting, aeration and general course maintenance.
• Carry out spraying and chemical applications as required.
• Assist with turf management and course improvement projects.
• Ensure machinery, equipment and work areas are maintained to a high standard.
• Support the Head Greenkeeper with daily task organisation.
• Work safely and in accordance with club procedures.

The Role

Working alongside the Head Greenkeeper, you will play an important role in the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the golf course, including:

• Operating and maintaining a range of greenkeeping machinery
• Carrying out mowing, cutting, aeration and general course maintenance
• Carrying out spraying and chemical applications as required
• Assisting with turf management and course improvement projects
• Ensuring machinery, equipment and work areas are maintained to a high standard
• Supporting the Head Greenkeeper with the organisation of daily tasks
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with club procedures

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience within golf course greenkeeping
• Has a strong understanding of turf and course maintenance
• Must hold relevant spraying qualifications and have experience using a knapsack sprayer
• Holds PA1 and PA6 qualifications
• Is confident operating a range of greenkeeping machinery
• Is reliable, organised and takes pride in their work
• Can work effectively as part of a team and independently
• Has good communication and leadership skills
• Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Is willing to learn and develop their skills
• Chainsaw qualification and experience would be desirable but is not essential.
