Job summary

Grimsby Town Football Club is seeking a Senior Head Grounds Person to maintain playing surfaces to the highest professional standard. You will lead the grounds team, oversee equipment and infrastructure, and deliver annual renovation and improvement programmes for the First Team, Academy, Women's team and wider club activity.

The role requires strong turf knowledge, hands-on leadership, and a track record in elite sport environments.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Sports Turf, Horticulture or Grounds Management is required or equivalent.
• Strong technical knowledge of turf maintenance and agronomy.
• Knowledge of irrigation, drainage and grounds machinery is essential.
• Good IT, admin, organisation and communication skills.
• Desirable: elite football or professional sport experience, PA1/PA2/PA6, IOSH and project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality grounds maintenance across all sites, in line with compliance and best practice.
• Manage matchday pitch operations, working closely with the first-team coaching staff.
• Plan monthly, weekly and daily grounds operations.
• Manage site resources, plant, machinery and grounds staff, and plan expenditure with the Stadium Manager.
• Be a key holder and part of the emergency call-out team.
• Train grounds staff on machinery and COSHH regulations.
