Job summary

Wollaton Park Golf Club in Nottingham is seeking an experienced Deputy Head Greenkeeper to join the team, working with the Head Greenkeeper to deliver top-quality playing surfaces throughout the year.

You will manage day-to-day course maintenance, supervise the greenkeeping team, and help plan aeration, renovations and seasonal care while maintaining high safety and presentation standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a senior greenkeeper or Deputy Head Greenkeeper role.
• Strong knowledge of turf management and golf course maintenance.
• Ability to supervise and develop a team.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily management and maintenance of the golf course and grounds.
• Ensure premium presentation and playing standards.
• Inspect greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs and irrigation systems.
• Plan and deliver aeration, top dressing, turf renovation and seasonal maintenance.
• Monitor turf health and address issues early.
• Supervise and support the greenkeeping team, allocating tasks safely and to a high standard.
• Assist with training and development of team members.
• Ensure maintenance machinery is operated safely and effectively.
• Support health and safety compliance and best practices.
• Assist with irrigation system monitoring and maintenance.

Job description

Wollaton Park Golf Club is looking for an experienced Deputy Head Greenkeeper to join its team in the historic grounds of Wollaton Park, Nottingham.

The Role

Working closely with the Head Greenkeeper, you will help manage and maintain the course day to day, delivering excellent playing conditions and presentation all year round. It is a strong opportunity for an ambitious greenkeeper looking to develop their career in a high-profile golfing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily management and maintenance of the golf course and surrounding grounds
• Ensure the course consistently meets premium presentation and playing standards
• Carry out regular inspections of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs and irrigation systems
• Support the planning and delivery of aeration, top dressing, turf renovation and seasonal maintenance programmes
• Monitor turf health and identify and address issues early
• Supervise, motivate and support the greenkeeping team, allocating daily tasks and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard
• Assist with training and developing team members
• Ensure maintenance machinery and equipment are operated safely and effectively
• Support compliance with health and safety legislation and industry best practice
• Assist with irrigation system monitoring, maintenance and performance

About You

• Experience in a senior greenkeeper, Deputy Head Greenkeeper or similar sports turf management role
• Strong knowledge of turf management, horticultural practices and golf course maintenance
• Experience supervising, motivating and developing a team
• Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills
• A strong understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices
• Experience operating and maintaining a range of greenkeeping machinery and equipment
• A passion for delivering exceptional playing surfaces and presentation
• Desirable: PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates, experience on regionally recognised or high-profile courses, and knowledge of irrigation systems

• Salary: £38,000 per annum
