    • Assist in all aspects of daily department operations, including opening and closing procedures.
    • Assist with managing department budgets, including sales, labor, and margin goals.
    • Ensure all departments are clean, well-organized, and visually appealing with well-stocked shelves and displays.
    • Ensure compliance feedback with all company policies, procedures, and health and safety and sanitation regulations.
    • Analyze sales data and department performance, and assist in developing strategies to improve sales and profitability.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Supervise, train, and motivate grocery department staff, providing guidance and direction.
    • Conduct performance feedback and contribute to performance reviews for department staff.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Communicate department goals, standards, policy changes, and product knowledge to staff
    • In absence of the GM, assume responsibility for department operations and team supervision.
  • Customer Service
    • Model and promote excellent customer service, ensuring team members provide a friendly, helpful, and efficient shopping experience
    • Address and resolve customer inquiries, requests and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Merchandising and Sales
    • Assist in planning and executing merchandising strategies to drive sales and highlight promotional items.
    • Contribute to achieving department sales and profit targets.
    • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a retail or grocery environment with 1-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is generally required; Associates or Bachelors in Business Admin, Retail Management, or related is a plus.
  • Experience with inventory management ordering and merchandising.

Skills:

  • Leadership, teambuilding, and supervisory skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent Communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer focused with a commitment to providing exceptional service.
  • Problem solving and decision making capabilities.
  • Basic Math and computer skills, including familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory software.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of grocery products, including natural and alternative foods.
  • Understanding of retail operations, sales principles, and merchandising techniques.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull moderately heavy to heavy items (e.g., up to 50-60 lbs)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions (e.g., coolers, freezers).

Availability: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekend, and holidays, as dictated by business needs.
