Job Description:

The College of Policing is partnering with Robertson Bell to find an Assistant Financial Accountant on a permanent basis. The College of Policing is the professional body for police in England and Wales, sharing knowledge, setting standards, and supporting development.

This newly created role supports our Financial Accounting Team. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, responsibilities include maintaining fixed asset postings, corporate adjustments, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring compliance with accounting policies.

Key duties:

• Record and process fixed asset transactions, including additions, disposals, and revaluations.
• Monitor assets under construction and ensure proper capitalization and depreciation.
• Maintain the fixed assets register, including revaluations and impairments.
• Review capital transactions for accuracy and correct misclassifications.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and balance sheet items.
• Prepare and enter journal entries.
• Assist auditors with information requests.

Candidate requirements:

• Working towards a CCAB or AAT qualification or qualified by experience.
• Understanding of sound financial accounting principles, especially double entry bookkeeping.
• Experience with UK government accounting and regulations is preferred.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and communicate effectively.
• Teamwork skills and flexibility.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting is advantageous.
