Description: Management Accountant Social Housing

Remote Must Live within a 1-hour commute of Peterborough

Full-time Monday to Friday, 09:00

£47,482 - £49,981

Are you a qualified or nearly qualified accountant with a strong background in management accounts within social housing? Do you have the technical acumen to spot discrepancies and the initiative to resolve them? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We're hiring a Management Accountant to join a values-driven finance team within a social housing setting. This is a fully remote position, with some travel required to the Peterborough head office for training and key meetings.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts, reports, and variance analysis.
  2. Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process, including working directly with managers and budget holders.
  3. Performing accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and other ledger tasks.
  4. Acting as a business partner to provide clear, actionable financial insights.
  5. Contributing to statutory and regulatory reports and developing financial systems and controls.

What we’re looking for:

  1. A qualified accountant (or nearly qualified with strong, relevant experience).
  2. Specific experience in social housing, particularly in management accounts.
  3. Strong technical knowledge and the ability to analyse a set of accounts with confidence.
  4. A proactive mindset with the initiative to investigate issues and improve processes.
  5. Advanced Excel skills and the ability to communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Bonus points if you:

  • Are familiar with SORP and Open Accounts software.
  • Have contributed to process improvement or performance enhancement initiatives.
