Role Overview

The Assistant File Handler (AFH) will work under a Partner within the Disease department, managing a caseload of Hourly Rate Industrial Disease claims, including but not limited to NIHL (Noise Induced Hearing Loss), HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome), and other disease cases. The role involves performing delegated tasks to facilitate the progression and resolution of files efficiently. It includes working on complex, high-value claims in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the development of disease cases.

Key Accountabilities

Carrying out tasks assigned by the Partner, including:

  • Ensuring compliance with client SLAs
  • Adhering to court directions and timetables
  • Drafting court documents
  • Negotiation and advocacy, including attending telephone hearings
  • Analyzing evidence
  • Client reporting
  • Instructing and liaising with Counsel and experts
  • Preparing bundles
  • Completing and updating management information (MI)
  • Ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
