Assistant File Handler

Department: Legal

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Birmingham

Description

The Assistant File Handler (AFH) will work under a Partner within the Disease department, managing a caseload of Hourly Rate Industrial Disease claims, including NIHL (Noise Induced Hearing Loss), HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome), and other disease cases. The role involves performing delegated tasks to facilitate the progression and resolution of files efficiently. You will handle complex and high-value claims in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the development of disease cases.

Key Accountabilities
  • Carrying out tasks assigned by the Partner, including ensuring compliance with client SLAs and court directions
  • Drafting court documents and conducting negotiations
  • Attending telephone hearings and advocating on behalf of clients
  • Analyzing evidence and reporting to clients
  • Instructing and liaising with Counsel and experts
  • Preparing bundles and maintaining MI updates
  • Achieving chargeable targets and ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
