Job summary

Greensleeves Care is seeking an Assistant Cook for our residential homes in England. You will prepare and serve meals, maintain kitchen hygiene, and support residents with balanced meals across our 26 care homes.

The role emphasizes quality, safety and teamwork in a compassionate environment. The successful candidate will have kitchen experience, a relevant hygiene qualification and good communication skills to work with care staff and residents.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a kitchen environment.
• Experience of serving food in a professional environment.
• Relevant food hygiene and food preparation qualifications.
• An understanding of the importance of food for residents, including a balanced and varied diet.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience in managing and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals.
• Clear and wash up after meal preparation.
• Ensure seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables are used where possible.
• Cater for special occasions within the home.
• Ensure kitchen hygiene and safety rules are observed.
• Leave the kitchen clean and hygienic at end of shift.

As an Assistant Cook, you will:

• Ensure that seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables are used whenever possible.
• Cater for special occasions within the home.
• Prepare, cook and serve meals.
• Clear and wash up after meal preparation.
• Ensure that the kitchen hygiene and safety rules are observed.
• Ensure that the kitchen is cleaned after use, and at the end of each shift, leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state.
