Job summary

Langley Trust in Bury is seeking a passionate Cook to join our friendly team on a permanent part-time basis. You will prepare nutritious meals, cater to dietary needs, and contribute to a warm dining experience for residents.

The role requires high hygiene standards, reliable organisation, and the ability to work across a 7-day rota. Salary is £14,924 per annum, pro-rata for 22 hours per week, with a benefits package including health and wellbeing provisions.

Responsibilities

• Actively assess and manage risks to ensure a safe environment for staff, residents, and the public.
• Maintain high hygiene standards, oversee food purchasing, storage, preparation, cooking, and serving.
• Plan menus collaboratively, minimise waste, liaise with suppliers for best value, conduct stock audits.
• Develop and implement training plans for residents and trainees, supervise their activities and ensure safety compliance.
• Manage training activities with a businesslike approach and enforce security during kitchen operations.

About the Role

• Actively assess and manage risks to ensure a safe environment for staff, service users, and the public, while adhering to all relevant legislation and regulations.
• Maintain high hygiene standards, ensure proper waste disposal, and oversee food purchasing, storage, preparation, cooking, and serving.
• Plan menus collaboratively, minimize waste, liaise with suppliers for best value, and conduct regular stock audits to ensure proper rotation and removal of expired items.
• Develop and implement training plans for residents and trainees, supervise their activities, record progress, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and project rules.
• Manage training activities with a businesslike approach, aim for self-financing, and enforce security measures to maintain acceptable risk levels during kitchen operations.
