Job summary

BCG seeks an Assistant Chef to join a small kitchen team, delivering balanced, nutritious meals for residents and supporting the Head Chef on duty. You will lead the kitchen during your shifts, ensuring smooth operations and high service standards.

Successful candidates will have kitchen experience, SVQ/NVQ 2 in Catering & Hospitality (or similar), a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and a working knowledge of HACCP. PVG checks and UK work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working in a kitchen environment.
• Confident leading the kitchen during shifts when Head Chef is not on duty.
• SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Catering & Hospitality or Professional Cookery.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).

Responsibilities

• Lead the kitchen during shifts when the Head Chef is not on duty.
• Ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and maintains high standards of food service.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations.
• Provide high-quality, resident-focused meals and respond to residents' needs.
