Job summary

Advinia is seeking a Chef for Golfhill Care Home in Glasgow to craft daily meals for Residents, Staff and Visitors. You will join a friendly catering team, manage busy workloads and deliver high-quality service with a focus on dietary needs and events.

You’ll work 40 hours weekly in a calm environment that supports great work-life balance. The role includes catering for special occasions, menu planning, costing and stock control, with opportunities for development and training.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• GCSE English or equivalent.
• City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
• Basic Food Hygiene (essential).
• Intermediate Food Hygiene (desirable).
• Previous experience in a similar environment.
• Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience.

Responsibilities

• Run the day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Maintain food storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Prepare and cook meals to a high standard, accommodating dietary requests.
• Serve Residents, Staff and Visitors professionally.
• Prepare foods for events.
• Participate in food costings and cost control procedures.
• Adhere to Safer Food Better Business standards and record keeping.
• Follow Food Hygiene Regulations and safety procedures.
• Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
• Help create new menus with high-quality meals.
• File HACCP records including fridge temps, temperature logs and cleaning schedules.

As a Chef you will be:

• Responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
• Preparing, planning and cooking meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
• Serving Residents, Staff and Visitors with food and beverage in a professional and courteous services manner.
• Preparing and producing foods for events.
• Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
• Adhering to the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ standards and record keeping.
• Adhering to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
• Taking full shift responsibility for the catering operation
• Help to create new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality.
• Correctly filing of all paperwork in relation to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP) i.e. Fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• To be 18 years or older
• GCSE or equivalent English
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
• Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
• Intermediate Food hygiene (desirable)
• Previous experience in a similar environment
