Job summary

Cygnet Group is hiring an Assistant Chef at Cygnet Fountains in the Lancashire region. This is a part-time role: 24 hours a week across 3 x 8-hour shifts within a high-support inpatient care setting. The appointment is a 6-month fixed-term contract with DBS enhanced clearance and supervision.

You’ll assist with balanced meals, basic cooking, stock checks, kitchen cleanliness and COSHH compliant practices, delivering quality experiences for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, preferably in a care setting.
• Enthusiastic team member with good communication.
• Able to work independently under supervision.
• Committed to high standards of hygiene and safety.

We are looking for an outstanding Assistant Chef who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.

You’ll be working part time, 24 hours a week (3 x 8 hour shifts), at Cygnet Fountains, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

Please note, this is a 6 month fixed term contract.

Cygnet Fountains is a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men who have severe and enduring mental illness and who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act. The individuals we support come to us following multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or stepping down from secure settings.

Your Day-to-Day...

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
