Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Sheffield is seeking a Kitchen Assistant/Catering Assistant to support daily meal preparation and kitchen operations on-site. You will work 40 hours a week, including alternate weekend shifts, contributing to a caring environment for young people and adults in CAMHS and adult services.

The role focuses on hygiene, food safety, teamwork and delivering high-quality meals within a therapeutic setting. DBS checks are required as part of the recruitment process.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.

• Wash utensils, dishes and ensure they are stored appropriately.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients, check deliveries and help with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic.

We are looking for an outstanding Kitchen Assistant/Catering Assistant who's passionate about food and wants to make a difference. You'll be working 40 hours a week (Including alternative weekend work) at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care. Cygnet Hospital Sheffield offers general adolescent and intensive support CAMHS services for male and female adolescents over three distinct wards. Within the adult service, women are supported by a full multi-disciplinary team who are focused on helping service users regain independence, maintain family links and prepare for discharge. There is a focus on community access, therapy and meaningful activity and offering a warm and welcoming environment for the delivery of support and care. In the separate and distinct CAMHS services at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield, young people may be admitted to either our general or one of our intensive support CAMHS wards depending on their individual needs. All young people are supported by a full multi-disciplinary team alongside the therapy and education departments.

Your Day-to-Day

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals

• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
