Job summary

Bupa's Ashley Park Care Home in Guildford is seeking an Assistant Chef / Second Chef to join a friendly kitchen team. You will report to the Chef Manager and help run day-to-day kitchen operations, delivering nutritious, well-presented meals for residents.

We offer a supportive environment with a focus on quality and resident wellbeing. The role is 30 hours per week, with pay £14.09–£15.59 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a fresh food kitchen
• Relevant food hygiene certificates
• Strong understanding of food safety standards
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Positive, flexible approach with willingness to bring new ideas

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
• Create varied menus catering to dietary requirements and preferences.
• Support residents to feel at home through excellent dining experiences.
• Lead, train and motivate kitchen team members on preparation and service standards.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness (HACCP, COSHH).
• Assist with stock control, ordering and budget management.
• Support special events and themed dining experiences.
