Emberbrook Care Home on the Surrey/London border is seeking an Assistant Chef to prepare nutritious meals for residents, thoughtfully considering dietary needs and preferences to support wellbeing.

You will uphold high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation; monitor stock and costs; supervise kitchen assistants; and work with the Head Chef to tailor menus that reflect residents' tastes and seasonal produce. The role offers opportunities for training and professional development.

Qualifications

• Plan and prepare daily meals according to menus and residents' dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation.
• Monitor portion control to ensure appropriate serving sizes.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop menus suitable for residents' preferences and nutritional needs.
• Supervise kitchen assistants or junior staff as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare daily meals according to menus and dietary needs.
• Ensure meals are cooked with high standards of taste, appearance and nutrition.
• Adapt recipes for residents with special dietary needs (diabetic, low-sodium, gluten-free).
• Monitor portion sizes and food costs.
• Work with Head Chef to review menus and seasonal ingredients.
• Keep the kitchen clean, safe and compliant with regulations.
