Bupa's The Arkley Care Home in Barnet seeks an Assistant Chef / 2nd Chef to prepare nutritious menus for residents, using fresh ingredients and accommodating dietary needs.

The role is permanent, 20 hours per week with alternate weekends; includes a £1,000 welcome bonus and benefits such as healthcare, pension, and flexible working arrangements. You will train and lead kitchen staff to deliver high‑quality meals.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fresh food kitchen with hygiene certificates.
• Deliver an excellent dining experience for residents.
• Innovative cooking while maintaining high standards.
• Strong communication with residents and team.

Responsibilities

• Create varied, nutritious menus aligned with residents' dietary needs.
• Propose ideas to enhance dining experience and home-like feel.
• Train and manage the kitchen team in food prep, cooking and service.
• Adhere to COSHH and HACCP, manage orders and deliveries.
• Cater for special events and seasonal activities as required.
