Job summary

Alexander Lloyd Limited is partnering with a growing business to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join a collaborative finance team in Horsham. This role offers a clear path to build accounting experience across month-end, reporting and management accounting activities within a supportive environment, with study support and career development opportunities.

You will gain exposure to journals, reconciliations, supplier-ledger and financial reporting, while contributing to process improvements

Qualifications

• Experience in an Accounts role, minimum 6 months.
• Willingness to study (AAT, ACCA, CIMA).
• Strong Excel skills and good attention to detail.
• Proactive and organised approach to work.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across the business.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end processes and management accounting activities.
• Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage supplier payments and purchase ledger processes.
• Support invoicing and credit control activities.
• Assist with financial reporting and analysis.
• Support audit and year-end requirements.
• Contribute to finance projects and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting month-end processes and management accounting activities
• Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
• Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Managing supplier payments and purchase ledger processes
• Supporting invoicing and credit control activities
• Assisting with financial reporting and analysis
• Supporting audit and year-end requirements
• Contributing to finance projects and process improvements

About You

• Previous experience within an Accounts related role, minimum 6 months
• Keen to commence studies (AAT, ACCA, CIMA)
• Strong Excel skills and good attention to detail
• A proactive and organised approach to work
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across a business
• A genuine desire to develop a long-term career within finance
