Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assisting with weekly cash flow reporting and payment runs

A well-established international business with a portfolio of highly respected global brands is seeking an ambitious Accounts Assistant to join its finance team based in Watford.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA and is looking to develop their accounting career within a supportive commercial finance environment.

The Role

Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function while gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

Key duties will include:

• Assisting with weekly cash flow reporting and payment runs
• Monitoring and managing the finance inbox
• Processing sales invoices, purchase invoices and credit notes
• Supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities
• Ensuring financial documentation is authorised in line with company procedures
• Updating cashbooks and reconciling bank accounts across multiple currencies
• Reconciling e-commerce sales activity
• Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Performing VAT reconciliations
• Maintaining and updating financial spreadsheets and reporting schedules
• Assisting with cash flow forecasting and annual budgeting processes
• Supporting the Financial Controller with ad hoc finance projects and reporting

About You

• A minimum of 2 years' finance experience within either a commercial business or accountancy practice
• Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• A proactive approach with strong work ethic and enthusiasm to learn
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
