Job summary

National Grid is seeking an Asset Integrity Manager for Wound Plant & Cables, with hybrid working across England and Wales. You will lead a specialist team, manage asset performance, assess risks, and guide decisions on operation and maintenance of transformers, reactive plant, HVDC assets and related equipment.

You will shape asset strategies, drive continuous improvement, and engage with suppliers and industry bodies to maintain network resilience and long-term value.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in transmission asset management and technical leadership.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams within complex operations.
• Strong risk management in safety-critical environments.
• Experience with asset maintenance, refurbishment and replacement policy.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technical specialists and act as SME across the business.
• Provide risk management advice to Operations teams for safe asset operation.
• Influence maintenance strategies, cost vs. risk vs. performance decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement through asset performance analysis.
• Lead technical investigations with evidence-based recommendations.
• Represent NG with suppliers and industry bodies on asset issues.
• Develop Operational Engineering Safety Briefings (OESBs).
• Provide reporting and insights on equipment condition and intervention needs.
• Support tender reviews and engineering proposals.
• Manage budget for primary equipment forensic investigations.
• Oversee thermal rating defect management and mitigations.
• Lead Plant Protection activities for asset risk management.
• Coach and develop a high-performing specialist team.
