Job summary

Freedom is seeking a Project Manager – Cable Engineering (Asset) to lead Asset Replacement work for Northern Powergrid in North-East England. You will drive safe, efficient delivery and manage a multidisciplinary team across planning, field operations and project handover.

The role requires senior operational experience in cable installation, knowledge of LV/HV networks, a driving licence, and health and safety qualifications; a PM qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in a senior operational role within cable installation, utilities, or power distribution.
• Knowledge of LV/HV cable networks, ideally in a DNO environment.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day Asset Replacement projects on time and within budget.
• Lead and inspire Field Managers, Supervisors, Planners, Engineers, and Operatives.
• Act as primary contact with Northern Powergrid and maintain client relationships.
• Ensure compliance with HSQE policies and legal requirements.
• Manage multiple projects from planning to energisation and handover.
• Allocate resources effectively and monitor KPIs.
• Ensure timely submission of documentation and stakeholder communication.
