Job summary

National Grid is seeking an Asset Lifecycle Manager - HVDC to lead the lifecycle management of HVDC assets, including converter stations and associated systems. You will drive strategies, standards, policy development and investment planning across a complex portfolio.

You will work across engineering, operations and regulatory interfaces, leading a high-performing team, with hybrid working supported and regular travel to Warwick to oversee critical assets.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering leadership with deep HVDC technical expertise.
• Experience developing lifecycle strategies and investment roadmaps for critical assets.
• Knowledge of asset health assessment, technical standards and obsolescence management.
• Proven ability to influence decisions and manage complex asset challenges.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain HVDC lifecycle strategies, standards and engineering guidance.
• Act as lifecycle owner for HVDC converter stations and related systems.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve asset challenges and support decisions.
• Lead asset health reviews, risk evaluations and intervention planning.
• Develop refurbishment, replacement and investment strategies balancing cost, risk and performance.
• Drive adoption of new technologies and asset improvements for long-term network performance.
• Own maintenance policies, inspection strategies and spares management.
• Influence investment plans, business cases and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and lead a high-performing team.
