Job summary

LRQA is seeking a technically capable engineer to assess design, manufacture and in-service aspects of assets in line with codes, standards and procedures. You will deliver reports, quotations and client discussions within agreed parameters and assist in knowledge transfer across teams.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant degree, with experience on power stations and familiarity with PD5500, ASME VIII, PED, PSSR/LOLER/PUWER and refrigeration codes. Travel throughout the UK is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
• Member of a recognised professional body is preferred (eg NSPE, ENGC, IMechE).
• Experience in relevant specialist requirements and application.
• Experience with power station sites and writing schemes of work.
• Ability to work unsupervised within authorisations framework.
• Knowledge of material, welding and pressure vessel construction codes (PD5500, ASME VIII).
• Knowledge of EC Directives (PED 2014/68/EU) and PSSR/LOLER/PUWER.
• Understanding of refrigeration systems and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess and advise on service delivery within budget and contractual requirements.
• Produce deliverables in defined formats and present to clients.
• Discuss deliverables with external clients and assess alternatives.
• Undertake routine administration per current processes.
• Draft quotations up to agreed limits under LRQA terms.
• Promote CPD and maintain technical discipline knowledge.
• Ensure activities comply with procedures, accreditation schemes, and legislation.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to staff.
• Support service delivery improvements from client feedback.
• Maintain health and safety discipline; work safely at all times.
