In the pre-manufacturing phase the Surveyor will be required to review procedures and inspection plans to establish conformity with international codes and standards and project specific requirements. The Surveyor will need good communication skills both written and verbal in on-line and face to face meetings to explain the findings of the reviews to the manufacturer and the end client. In the manufacturing phase the Surveyor will supervise remotely on-site inspectors, review and collate inspection reports and communicate findings to the end customer for their action. Technical skills required include welding, materials, heat treatment and NDT.
