Job summary

Millstead Primary School in Liverpool offers a Teaching Assistant SEND Apprenticeship designed to support pupils with severe or complex learning needs. You will work closely with teachers and the school team to deliver inclusive learning activities and tailored support.

The apprenticeship leads to a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, with hours Monday–Friday during term time. Enhanced DBS disclosure is required, and apprentices are paid for both work hours and training.”

Qualifications

• GCSEs (A*-C / 9-4) including English and Maths.
• Experience with children is desirable but not essential.
• DBS check required due to role with children.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation, supporting teaching programmes.
• Assist in lesson delivery and interact with teachers and pupils.
• Adapt learning activities to pupil needs and progress.
• Support ICT use in learning to build confidence and independence.
• Provide individual and group support and maintain pupil engagement.
• Deliver short sessions to the class, such as reading activities.
• Encourage communication and participation through role play and interactive tasks.
• Promote inclusion, teamwork and positive pupil relationships.
• Foster independence, confidence and self-esteem among pupils.
• Assist in lesson planning, delivery and evaluation with staff.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
• Contribute to assessment through observation and record keeping.
• Support classroom management with resources and materials.
