Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a Newark-based secondary SEND school. The role is full-time, temp-to-perm, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm, supporting students with Autism/ASD and other needs to access the curriculum.

You will work closely with staff to deliver individual and group support, helping students manage their needs and make positive progress in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting students with Autism / ASD.
• Confidence supporting secondary-aged students.
• A patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A flexible and adaptable attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support to help students access learning.
• Assist students with their diverse SEND needs and monitoring progress.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement effective strategies and accommodations.
