Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join a leading facilities management team on a major supermarket contract in Southampton. The role covers electrical and mechanical plant maintenance, planned store visits, and reactive repairs including non-electrical tasks.

You will perform PPM scheduling, emergency lighting and fire alarm testing, troubleshoot faults, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2 or equivalent in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification recognised for electrical works.
• AM2 and/or 2391 certification confirmed or equivalent.
• Proven experience maintaining electrical systems in commercial/retail settings.

Responsibilities

• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules within agreed timescales and document all activities.
• Deliver reactive and planned maintenance on catering and bakery equipment and general sites.
• Carry out emergency lighting and fire alarm testing, maintenance, and repairs.
• Undertake general building repairs across customer sites as required.
• Diagnose faults, recommend replacements for non-repairable issues, ensure safety and compliance.
• Work safely and in line with regulations and standards while meeting customer expectations.

Job Title:Area Site Technician

Location: Southampton

Pay Range/details: £39,825.03 per annum (salary including on call standby 1:4)

Contract Type: Permanent

Omega are supporting a leading facilities management provider in the recruitment of an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the team to work on a leading supermarket contracts. The role will involve maintaining and repairing a range of electrical, mechanical plant and equipment in retail outlets, undertaking regular planned store visits to complete reactive, PPMs and minor repairs as requested by the customer (including non-electrical).

Key Responsibilities

• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules within agreed timescales, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
• Deliver both reactive and planned maintenance on catering and bakery equipment.
• Carry out emergency lighting and fire alarm testing, maintenance, and repairs.
• Undertake general building repairs and maintenance as required across customer sites.
• Diagnose faults in plant and equipment, identifying non-repairable issues and recommending suitable replacement solutions.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with relevant regulations and standards.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification.
• AM2 and/or 2391 certification.
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial or retail environment.

Ideal Candidate

• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience using PDA/mobile job management systems.
• Ability to maintain and repair a broad range of electrical and mechanical equipment, including commercial catering and bakery equipment.
• Previous experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance in a retail or multi-site environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
