Mitchell Maguire is seeking an Area Sales Manager for Flooring & Interior Products to cover the North and West of London. This 12-month maternity cover role involves field selling a full range of floor coverings to contractors and to architects/interior designers, with a turnover approx.

£1m to inherit and a healthy project bank. You’ll work with ABI leads and our CRM to grow revenue on projects from 500m2 upwards, with typical values around £10,000 and more.

Qualifications

• Proven field sales track record in flooring/contract markets.
• Experience selling to flooring contractors; A&D knowledge is a plus.
• Open to interior products beyond flooring and wall coverings.
• Specification sales with architects and interior designers useful but not essential.
• Tactile, non-technical sales approach and strong presentation skills.
• Awareness of sustainability trends in construction/interiors.

Responsibilities

• Sell to flooring contractors (approx. 65% of time) and to A&D audiences.
• Promote full range of floor coverings and carpet tiles; multi-loop designs.
• Manage an area with turnover around £1m and inherit a healthy project bank.
• Develop new business while maintaining relationships with end users and authorities.
• Leverage ABI leads and in-house CRM for project opportunities; typical projects £10,000+.

Job Title: Area Sales Manager – Flooring & Interior Products (12 month Contract)

Industry Sector: Carpet, Carpet Tile, Flooring, Interiors, A&D, Architects and Interior Designers, Specifiers, Flooring Contractors, Fit-Out Contractors, Education, Building Surveyors, Letting Agents, Estate Management and Local Authorities

Area to be covered: North and West of London: AL, EN, HA, HP, LU, MK, N, NN, NW, OX, SG, WD

Remuneration: £50,000-£55,000 Neg. + up to £8,000 Commission plus Bonus

The role of the Area Sales Manager Flooring & Interior Products will involve:

• This role is for temporary maternity cover – 12 month contract
• Field sales role selling a full range of manufactured floor coverings / carpet tiles
• Promoting multi-loop and low level loop carpet tiles as well as some ranges of FRS (full repeatable scroll)
• This is a transactional field sales role, with the majority of your time selling into flooring contractors (65%)
• Remainder of time selling into architects and interior designers (A&D), but also: fit-out contractors, property developers, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management, local authorities and main contractors
• Inheriting an area with a turnover of approx. £1m
• New business position, although there will be a healthy project bank to inherit
• Targeting commercial buildings such as office blocks as well as the education sector: schools, universities & colleges and a small amount of healthcare
• Utilising ABI leads and in-house CRM database
• Project sizes from 500m2, typically £10,000 upwards project value

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager Flooring & Interior Products with:

• Must have a proven field sales track record, ideally selling into flooring contractors
• Flooring/ carpet industry backgrounds preferred
• Open to other interior products such as: wall coverings, fabric, ceiling, partitioning or furniture
• Contacts within fit-out contractors, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management and local authorities are not essential
• Specification sales experience with architects and interior designers (A&D) may be useful but not essential
• Tactile sales background rather that technical, sold something aesthetically pleasing, ideally flooring related
• Some knowledge of how sustainability is driving both the construction and interior market would be beneficial.
