Job summary

Mitchell Maguire is seeking an Area Sales Manager to cover North and West London for flooring and interior products. This 12-month maternity cover role targets contractors, architects and interior designers, with a strategic, project-based sales approach.

The successful candidate will promote carpet tiles and other floor coverings, manage a £1m territory, and use the in-house CRM to drive new business and upsell existing accounts.

Qualifications

• Must have a proven field sales track record.
• Experience selling to flooring contractors is a plus.
• Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build long-term relationships with specifiers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Sell a full range of manufactured floor coverings to contractors, architects and interior designers.
• Develop and manage an approved account base, targeting offices and education sectors.
• Inherit an area with a turnover of ~£1m and drive new business alongside existing projects.
• Utilise ABI leads and the in-house CRM database to source opportunities.
• Work on projects from 500m2 upwards with typical values around £10,000+.

Job Title: Area Sales Manager - Flooring & Interior Products (12 month Contract)

Industry Sector: Carpet, Carpet Tile, Flooring, Interiors, A&D, Architects and Interior Designers, Specifiers, Flooring Contractors, Fit-Out Contractors, Education, Building Surveyors, Letting Agents, Estate Management and Local Authorities

Area to be covered: North and West of London: AL, EN, HA, HP, LU, MK, N, NN, NW, OX, SG, WD

Remuneration: £50,000-£55,000 Neg. + up to £8,000 Commission plus Bonus

The role of the Area Sales Manager Flooring & Interior Products will involve:

• This role is for temporary maternity cover - 12 month contract
• Field sales role selling a full range of manufactured floor coverings / carpet tiles
• Promoting multi-loop and low level loop carpet tiles as well as some ranges of FRS (full repeatable scroll)
• This is a transactional field sales role, with the majority of your time selling into flooring contractors (65%)
• Remainder of time selling into architects and interior designers (A&D), but also: fit-out contractors, property developers, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management, local authorities and main contractors
• Inheriting an area with a turnover of approx. £1m
• New business position, although there will be a healthy project bank to inherit
• Targeting commercial buildings such as office blocks as well as the education sector: schools, universities & colleges and a small amount of healthcare
• Utilising ABI leads and in-house CRM database
• Project sizes from 500m2, typically £10,000 upwards project value

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager Flooring & Interior Products with:

• Must have a proven field sales track record, ideally selling into flooring contractors
• Flooring/ carpet industry backgrounds preferred
• Open to other interior products such as: wall coverings, fabric, ceiling, partitioning or furniture
• Contacts within fit-out contractors, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management and local authorities are not essential
• Specification sales experience with architects and interior designers (A&D) may be useful but not essential
• Tactile sales background rather that technical, sold something aesthetically pleasing, ideally flooring related
• Some knowledge of how sustainability is driving both the construction and interior market would be beneficial.
