Job summary

Mitie Group is seeking security guards to support Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) sites around St Albans and nearby areas. You will ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors, patrol sites, verify credentials, and respond to emergencies as part of a professional Mitie team.

A Full UK driving licence is required and the role involves travel across multiple DWP locations. Prior security experience and DS licensing are essential to join our nationwide security effort.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the premises to identify potential security threats and incidents.
• Monitor and control access to the building with proper identification and verification.

• Provide high level customer service to staff and visitors and assist with security-related matters.
• Complete routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
• Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations.

Job Overview

• Flexibility to travel, as this role will cover various DWP sites within the region of St Albans and surroundings.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for the DWP staff, visitors, and property.
• Patrol the premises regularly to identify potential security threats.
• Monitor and control access to the building, ensuring proper identification and verification.
• Respond effectively to emergencies or suspicious situations.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
• Provide a high level of customer service and assist staff and visitors in any security-related matter.
• Conduct routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
• Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations

Security and Health & Safety

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
• Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
• To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
