Job summary

Mitie is seeking passionate security guards to join our team on a nationwide project for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The role covers DWP sites across Cambridgeshire, including Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon, and Peterborough. A full UK driving licence is required.

You will patrol, deter threats, respond to incidents, and liaise with emergency services while delivering excellent customer service to staff and visitors. Compliance with Mitie and DWP security policies is essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors and property.
• Patrol the premises to identify potential security threats.
• Respond to emergencies or suspicious situations promptly and effectively.
• Liaise with local police and emergency services when needed.
• Provide high levels of customer service and assist staff and visitors with security matters.
• Complete incident reports and submit in a timely manner.
• Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies and procedures.

Job Overview

Flexibility to travel, as this role will cover various DWP sites within the region of Cambridgeshire including Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon and Peterborough.

Full UK driving licence required.

• Ensure a safe and secure environment for the DWP staff, visitors, and property.
• Patrol the premises regularly to identify potential security threats.
• Respond effectively to emergencies or suspicious situations.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
• Provide a high level of customer service and assist staff and visitors in any security-related matter.
• Conduct routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
• Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations

Security and Health & Safety

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
• Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
• To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
