Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking Security Guards for a nationwide project with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The role covers various DWP sites around St Albans and nearby areas, requiring flexibility and a full UK driving licence.

You will ensure a safe environment, conduct patrols, manage access and respond to incidents while maintaining a high standard of service for staff and visitors. Ideal candidates will have security experience and hold a DS Licence.

Responsibilities

• Patrol DWP sites and surrounding areas to identify threats.
• Monitor and control access, verifying identifications and authorisations.

• Provide high levels of customer service to staff, visitors and contractors.
• Document incidents thoroughly in incident reports and hand them to the supervisor.

Job Overview

• Flexibility to travel, as this role will cover various DWP sites within the region of St Albans and surroundings.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for the DWP staff, visitors, and property.
• Patrol the premises regularly to identify potential security threats.
• Monitor and control access to the building, ensuring proper identification and verification.
• Respond effectively to emergencies or suspicious situations.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
• Provide a high level of customer service and assist staff and visitors in any security-related matter.
• Conduct routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
• Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations

Security and Health & Safety

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
• Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
• To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
