Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking an Area Manager / Area Matron to lead blood donation services across a defined region, delivering safe, high-quality, efficient services and an excellent donor experience. You will manage a dispersed workforce, drive improvement using performance data and ensure regulatory standards are met.

You will develop talent, manage budgets and resources, and work collaboratively with NHSBT managers and clinicians to ensure a reliable supply of blood and components for

Qualifications

• Senior management and leadership experience within a clinical environment.
• Proven track record of improving service delivery and implementing change.
• Strong leadership, communication, influencing and negotiating skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage blood donation teams across a defined geographical area, ensuring safe, effective delivery of services.
• Ensure donor and product safety and compliance with quality, regulatory and governance standards.
• Lead, develop and manage a dispersed workforce, set performance expectations, and drive improvements.
• Champion an excellent donor experience using feedback and data to improve satisfaction and retention.
• Lead continuous improvement, investigate issues, and drive quality actions.
• Manage budgets, resources, premises, equipment and expenditure effectively.
• Build relationships across NHSBT and collaborate with managers, clinicians, staff and stakeholders.
• Recruit, develop and performance-manage clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
