Here at The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our vibrant team as an Area Manager for the Midlands.
The role will be responsible for managing and supporting stores in an assigned area to achieve company objectives by empowering Store Managers and promoting a customer-focused culture among all colleagues, which will help maximize sales and profit performance. The position entails total Profit and Loss accountability for results in each area.
Responsibilities/Objectives
- Achieve and exceed sales and profit budgets in the stores and the overall area.
- Set business objectives and budgets, and work with Store Managers to develop plans and strategies to meet them.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and satisfaction are maintained across all stores.
- Monitor and regulate the financial performance of stores, identify opportunities, address issues, and maximize resource utilization.
- Plan store strategies and layouts in accordance with divisional sales strategies and implement seasonal and promotional plans.
- Identify new opportunities for profitability and expansion, and communicate potential new sites or business opportunities to Head Office.
- Ensure stores are effectively crewed to maximize sales and uphold store standards within budget constraints.
- Take measures to reduce operating costs and protect profitability, including controlling shrinkage and expenses.
- Follow company procedures for cash and stock handling and ensure security procedures are adhered to.
- Recruit Store Management in collaboration with HR, based on store and company needs.
- Oversee induction and ongoing training of Store Management according to company guidelines.
- Identify and develop potential successors, maintaining an accurate succession plan for the area in partnership with HR.
- Monitor Store Managers' performance and conduct disciplinary actions as necessary within company policies.
- Ensure Store Managers recruit, induct, and train their teams in line with company procedures.
- Supervise ongoing performance monitoring and annual reviews of store teams.
- Maintain a safe working and shopping environment, conduct risk assessments, and adhere to health and safety regulations.
