Job summary

TRUMPF Laser UK Limited in Southampton is seeking an IT Support Technician Apprentice to join the IT Service Desk, providing 1st and 2nd line support and assisting with the rollout of new products. Training to be provided: Level 3 IT Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard, 22 months with 25 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham.

You will be supported every 6-8 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach, and there are progression routes on apprenticeship completion.

Qualifications

• GCSE maths and English with at least grade C/4.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Good organisation and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond quickly to IT ServiceDesk requests.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
• Escalate requests to appropriate party as needed.
• Replace or repair defective equipment or components.
• Provide on-site desktop/laptop support including imaging and deployment.
• Provide minor telecom system support including mobile devices and voicemail.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, software and licenses.
• Ensure new starters have the right computer system and access.
• Conduct IT training for new users and explain support processes.
• Assist leaver process, ensuring equipment is identified and returned.

Join TRUMPF Laser UK Limited at a time of rapid innovation and growth. This hands-on role supports the rollout of key new products, providing 1st and 2nd line service desk support, resolving technical issues, and maintaining systems under guidance from senior team members. Training to be provided:
Level 3 IT Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 22-month apprenticeship which includes 25 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6-8 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach. About the role:

• Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT ServiceDesk
• Troubleshoot and resolve all problems encountered with hardware and software
• Escalate requests to the appropriate party, as needed

• Provide on-site desktop/laptop support including new hardware setup, imaging, and deployment
• Provide minor telecom system support including mobile devices, voicemail, and user programming
• Help maintain inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses
• Ensure new starters have the right computer system, workplace setup and access needed to do their work
• Conduct IT training for new users, explain process for getting support, basic computer functions, how to find information, etc.
• Aid the leaver process, specifically ensuring company equipment is identified and returned
