Job summary

Phoenix Printing Plates Ltd is offering an ICT apprentice role in Bristol. You will perform first-line ICT support, help maintain computer systems and assist with digital workflows in a manufacturing environment.

The apprenticeship includes training with South Gloucestershire and Stroud College (Level 3 ICT) and requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The duration is 1 year and 6 months.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in ICT with a Level 3 qualification.
• Regular college-based training with a dedicated college or training organisation.
• At least 20% of working hours spent in training.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line ICT support for hardware, software and network issues.
• Assist users with troubleshooting IT problems.
• Support installation, configuration and maintenance of desktop PCs and peripherals.
• Maintain user accounts and access permissions under supervision.
• Provide support for business software applications and digital production systems.
• Assist with data entry, data management and data quality checks.
• Help maintain IT asset records and technical documentation.
• Monitor and report IT incidents, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Assist with system updates, data backups and cyber security best practices.
• Support digital workflow processes within the printing and manufacturing environment.
• Learn and develop the skills required to produce printing plates to company standards.
• Learn how to operate specialist plate-making equipment safely and effectively to meet customer requirements.
• Work confidently with knives and chemicals under supervision, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
• Prepare and dispatch printing plates accurately to the correct destinations and within agreed timescales.
• Deliver excellent customer service to colleagues, customers and other stakeholders.
• Work as part of a team while developing technical, production and customer service skills.

Phoenix Printing Plates Ltd opened it's doors in 1992. It began with just 3 members of staff and an imagesetter supplying analogue flexo plates to wide-web flexible packaging printers. Our reputation soon grew, along with the need for bigger premises and we made the move to Southmead in 1995 where we remain today.

We work closely with both hardware and software suppliers to ensure we are always at the forefront of technology and using the best products available to give you the highest quality plates. In April 2018 we became a Kodak Certified partner confirming the quality and consistency of our plates.
