Job summary

Christ's College is seeking an Apprentice IT Support Assistant to deliver first line technical advisory and diagnostics for staff and students in a Service Desk environment. You will monitor networks, manage Chromebook bookings, log calls, and escalate incidents as required.

You will participate in the Apprenticeship scheme, attend education courses, and complete exams while supporting the Network Manager. Hours are 40 per week, 8am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

  • Pro-active approach to work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems and applications.
  • 5 GCSEs grade A-C (9-4) including Maths and English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first line technical advisory and diagnostic support to staff and students in a Service Desk environment during the service window.
  • Provide first line network monitoring and management.
  • Manage Chromebook bookings and 1st line support and call logging.
  • Report incidents requiring third party assistance and escalate per SLA.
  • Monitor/calyze call queues to ensure escalation and resolution within SLA.
  • Assist the Network Manager with additional duties and ad hoc project work.
  • Attend education courses and exams as part of the Apprenticeship scheme.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working area.

Job description


  • To provide a professional first line technical advisory and diagnostic support service to staff & students within a Service Desk environment during the service window.

  • To provide a professional and effective first line network monitoring and management.

  • Manage Chromebook bookings

  • Provide 1st line technical support and call logging services to the school.

  • To report and manage any incident that requires the services of a third party organisation.

  • To monitor/manage call queues to ensure that support calls are being escalated and resolved within agreed SLA's

  • To action any asset change in compliance with the Change Control Procedure

  • To complete additional ad hoc project work, as required

  • To assist the Network Manager by carrying out reasonable requests for additional duties as and when required.

  • To keep the working area clean & tidy at all times.

  • To attend and fully complete education courses and exams that are part of the Apprenticeship scheme.

  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems and applications.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. 8am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. 30 minutes unpaid lunch break. 52 weeks per year with 24 days holiday plus Bank Holidays. Salary: Apprentice rate for 1st year at £8.00 per hour rising to National Living Wage in the 2nd year.
