Job summary

CSG is seeking motivated individuals to join our Botley depot as full-time Driver Trainees. This role offers 40 hours per week with training to operate waste management equipment, develop customer service skills, and progress toward an HGV qualification.

You will start with on-site training, learn procedures, and be supported by the depot to achieve safety and performance standards while serving domestic non-hazardous customers. Bonding with the team and ongoing development are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Driving Licence.
  • Experience of providing a service to customers.
  • A desire to work as part of a team and to work hard towards building a career.
  • Exposure to manual work and lifting.
  • Learn to drive and operate equipment as per road and company regulations.
  • Learn to and assist the driver operator to carry and use the correct equipment to achieve the work required.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking the necessary training programme to ensure competency.
  • Demonstrating satisfactory skills development throughout the training programme.
  • Undertaking HGV driver training at the required stage within the training programme.
  • Operating waste management equipment in a professional and legal manner.
  • Achieving required standards of performance in regard to jobs per days, cleanliness of operations.
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out in a safe and legal manner.
  • Be aware of, understand and achieve required standards of performance.
  • Deal with Customers in a manner that retains their loyalty to the Company and delivers an outstanding service.
  • Aid the relevant Driver Operative to ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner that does not negatively impact human health, the environment or public amenity.
  • Raise any issues, problems or concerns with your Line Manager at the earliest opportunity.
  • Be courteous and respectful to Customers at all times.
  • Abide by all Customer on-site rules and regulations.
  • Follow instructions on each work ticket.
  • Help the driver operator to feed‑back to the office any additional customer requirements.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Visiting our domestic non-hazardous customers collecting sewage.

The Candidate:

  • Driving Licence
  • Experience of providing a service to customers.
  • A desire to work as part of a team and to work hard towards building a career.

  • Learn and demonstrate ability to follow operating procedures intelligently.
  • Learn to drive and operate equipment as per road and company regulations.
  • Learn to and assist the driver operator to carry and use the correct equipment to achieve the work required.
  • Learn to and assist the driver operator to use all testing equipment in a proper and prescribed manner.
  • Learn to submit logbooks as per legal requirements.
  • Learn to complete daily work sheets, consignment notes and all other paperwork accurately and as directed by the Company.
  • Performance standards and targets:
  • Learn to and assist the driver operator to carry out each job to the standards required.
  • Learn to and assist the driver operator to carry out a minimum number of jobs per day in line with depot expectations.
  • Raise any questions regarding standards with line Manager.
  • Be willing to stay away at night and cover emergency, out of hours and any additional work required to meet customer needs.
  • Learn to and assist with carrying out daily vehicle checks as required.
  • Learn to use generic risk assessments.
  • Learn to and assist with carrying out specific risk assessment for each job.
  • Learn to use the defect reporting system as laid down in driver training.
  • Report every “Near Miss”.
  • Carry and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
  • Participate in the Depot Communications meetings.
  • Discuss with the Manager any issues that could affect your learning of the job required.
