MCP Carpets Ltd in Hallcroft Industrial Estate, DN22 7PX, is offering an Apprentice Floorlayer role with full training provided through your apprenticeship provider. You’ll gain hands-on experience in installing carpets, vinyl, linoleum and rubber flooring across commercial, industrial and residential sites in the UK.

No prior experience is required; you’ll learn subfloor prep, measurement, cutting and finishing while working with experienced fitters.

Competenze

• GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade C/4) - desirable
• GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grade C/4) - desirable

Job Title: Apprentice Floorlayer
Employer: MCP Carpets Ltd
Location: Hallcroft Industrial Estate, DN22 7PX
Hours: Full time, 07.30am-4.30pm 40hrs per week
Pay: £8.00 per hour

We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Floor layer to join our team and train in textile and resilient flooring installation. This apprenticeship will provide hands‑on experience and expert training in laying a variety of flooring materials, including carpets, vinyl, linoleum, and rubber flooring.

As a Floor layer Apprentice, you will learn the specialist skills involved in preparing, fitting, and finishing a wide range of flooring materials including:

• Textile flooring: such as carpets, carpet tiles, and underlay

• Resilient flooring: including vinyl sheets, tiles, and slip‑resistant coverings

You’ll work alongside experienced floor layers learning how to prepare surfaces, measure and cut materials, and install high‑quality flooring in commercial, industrial, and residential settings across the UK, this will involve staying away from home.

No experience is needed – full training will be provided through your apprenticeship provider and day-to-day support from the team.

• Basic mathematical skills for measuring and cutting materials.

• Physical fitness and ability to carry materials and work on your feet.

• A positive attitude and commitment to completing the apprenticeship.

• Outstanding communication skills both with colleagues and customers

• Excellent attendance and timekeeping.

• A driving license (or willingness to learn) is beneficial but not essential.

• Staying away from home is sometimes required

Comprehensive Floor Laying Training

During your Standard Level 2 Floor Layer apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at FITA training facility in Loughborough on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks, costs are covered by the employer.

You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.

Training will be provided in all areas of floor laying to ensure you can create practical and quality installations using both traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose installations.

If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.
