Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board in Bridgend is offering a 24‑month Apprenticeship for a Health Care Support Grade Apprentice. The post combines workplace training with a Level 3 qualification, working 37.5 hours per week on site.

On completion you will transfer into a permanent Band 3 Nursing Support Worker role within the Mental Health and Learning Disability Service Group, with protected study time and structured supervision throughout the programme.

Qualifications

• Have a good general standard of GCSE education or equivalent.
• Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education qualifications.
• Must not have a degree.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and colleagues.
• Assist in maintaining patients' personal hygiene, e.g. dressing, bathing, washing and assisting to use the toilet facilities.
• Support the professional in meeting the patients' nutritional needs; feeding and fluid balance recording.
• Observe and report changes to qualified staff.
• Assist the professional in care of patients undergoing investigation and in meeting spiritual, social, emotional and sexual needs.

Education

GCSE English & Math C grade or above.

Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education qualifications.

Must not have a degree.
