Job summary

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust is offering an 18-month Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship. You will work on wards and clinics, receiving training toward the Care Certificate while learning to support patients and assist clinical staff.

The role is full-time with rotating shifts, including 24-hour periods, at entry level 2 or 3 depending on prior results. Essential qualifications include basic numeracy and literacy, plus teamwork and good communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum level 1 in numeracy and literacy (Functional Skills Level 1 or GCSE Maths and English at grade D/3 or above)
• Not completed another healthcare apprenticeship at level 2 or 3
• Experience of working as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Support patients with personal care, such as washing, dressing and going to the toilet
• Support patients with fluid and dietary needs, including menu choices
• Make beds and keep patient areas clean and tidy
• Keep appropriate records
• Help other clinical staff with their duties
• Work safely and calmly on busy wards and in clinics alongside other healthcare professionals
• Develop core health and caring skills, including completing the Care Certificate
