Job summary

Yorkshire Building Society is seeking an API & Microservices - Software Development Engineer to join one of our squads in the Enterprise Engineering Team. The hybrid role includes home working and time at Bradford office, with opportunities to learn new technologies and shape the digital future.

You will design, develop, document and test automation, delivering Java Spring Boot microservices and APIs. You'll implement automated pipelines, participate in reviews and collaborate across teams to

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring.
• Desirable skills include RESTful design and API gateway usage (Google Apigee, Azure APIM).
• Knowledge of containers/orchestration with Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Experience with CI pipelines using Git, Jenkins and Azure AKS.
• Security practices (OWASP, certificates, JWT, encryption).
• Familiarity with software delivery methodologies and tools like JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab and Jenkins.
• Experience building customer-facing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document and test automation of software and configurations.
• Deliver APIs and Java Spring Boot microservices underpinning digital platforms.
• Implement automated build pipelines and monitoring capabilities.
• Lead peer reviews of documentation, code and tests.
• Collaborate with leads, architects and product owners on estimates and designs.
• Ensure system design aligns with current and future architecture.
• Provide out-of-hours support for services and APIs.
