Job summary

Yorkshire Building Society is seeking an API & Microservices - Software Development Engineer to join our Engineering team. This hybrid role blends working from home with time in our Leeds and Bradford offices as we build digital platforms for our members.

You’ll design, develop, document, and test automation for APIs and Java Spring Boot microservices, contribute to CI pipelines, and collaborate with tech leads, architects, analysts, Scrum Master and Product Owners to shape solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of modern technologies for digital and cloud apps.
• Experience with RESTful design and API gateways (Azure).
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• CI pipelines and version control.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver APIs and Java Spring Boot microservices underpinning our digital platforms.
• Implement automated build pipelines and monitoring capabilities.
• Lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit and integration testing.
• Collaborate with tech leads, architects, analysts, Scrum Master and Product Owners to perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs.
• Ensure system design meets current and future architecture and infrastructure requirements.
• Provide out-of-hours support for services.
