Job summary

The University of Rochester Otolaryngology Clinic in Geneva, NY is seeking a patient services specialist to manage ambulatory care reception, registration, and billing-related tasks using the EMR and revenue cycle systems.

You will greet patients, verify identities, collect demographics and financial information, schedule visits, and support a smooth patient experience while safeguarding PHI in accordance with HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 1 year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field required
• Vision Care 1,2,3 courses required
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Greets patients to initiate ambulatory experience and verifies patient identity using two identifiers
• Collects patient demographic and financial information and enters data into EMR and revenue cycle systems
• Schedules visits, pre-registers patients, coordinates appointments and tests, and handles follow-up communications
• Answers phone, routes calls to appropriate staff, and opens telephone encounters in the EMR
• Edits and corrects registration errors and assists in charge reconciliation
• Assesses urgency and serves as a resource for handling complaints and patient needs
• May escort patient to treatment area and gather vitals and medication lists
• Other duties as assigned
