Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Corby, Northamptonshire. The role focuses on students who need additional support with learning, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

You will work closely with teachers to foster a calm, positive environment, build trust with learners and help them re-engage with education. Prior experience with SEMH or mentoring is desirable.

The Role

As an Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who may require additional support with their learning, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement.You will help create a calm and positive environment where students feel supported and encouraged to re-engage with education. Building strong, trusting relationships will be an important part of the role.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with young people, ideally in education, care, youth work, support work or similar.
• Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
• Is patient, empathetic and resilient.
• Has a calm and consistent approach to behaviour.
• Can build positive relationships with students who may have struggled in mainstream settings.
• Is confident working with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
• Is keen to develop their experience within an Alternative Provision setting.

You do not necessarily need previous school experience - experience working with young people in other settings can be equally valuable.
